Seven & I Holdings Co. saw profits leap by 52% last year thanks to growth from its supermarket operations and a contribution from its recently-acquired department store business.
The Japanese group, which operates the 7-Eleven chain, today (12 April) posted net profit of JPY133.4bn (US$1.1bn) for the year ending 28 February. Revenues leapt 37% to JPY5.3trillion.
The company’s figures were boosted by the inclusion of results from department store chain Millennium Retailing.
Yesterday, fellow Japanese retailer Lawson revealed that, for the year to 28 February, its profits inched up 1.5% to JPY44.5bn. Revenue rose 5.6% to JPY283.1bn.
