Ireland-based free-from supplier BFree Foods is targeting states in the centre of the US through a tie-up with local e-commerce player glutenfreemall.com.
BFree first entered the US in 2015 and said its deal with glutenfreemall.com had been sparked by consumers in parts of the country saying they could not find the company’s products.
“As a young growing brand in the US with limited retail distribution and ever growing brand awareness amongst our target market, we were getting a lot of queries from consumers who wanted to buy our products but couldn’t buy at their local retailer,” Freya Ivory, senior brand manager at BFree, said.
Glutenfreemall.com is listing eight BFree SKUs. Ivory added: “Glutenfreemall has given us the opportunity to have national distribution in the US and reach consumers that we were not able to with our physical retail presence.”
BFree, set up in 2011, does not disclose its turnover but said it expects to see the US to account for 40% of its sales this year.
In an interview with just-food last April, BFree general manager Alex Murphy said the company generates 80% of its revenues overseas.
