Dublin-based Hibernia Foods has announced that it has been placed in receivership, together with its UK subsidiaries.
Hibernia Foods conducts most of its business in the UK, where it operates six subsidiaries that manufacture frozen desserts, frozen ready-meals, sweet baked goods and chilled desserts. The company employs approximately 2,000 people throughout the UK.
Hibernia Foods produces some branded products, including Sara Lee bakery products, Mr Brains faggots and Entenmanns chilled desserts, as well as a number of private label products for the major supermarket chains.
“Hibernia Foods has a reputation for producing a number of well-known quality food brands from modern, state-of-the-art facilities,” Allan Graham, joint receiver from KPMG Corporate Recovery, said.
“We are currently trading the business while we seek buyers for the
assets. However, to continue to do so successfully, we must retain the support of customers, suppliers, creditors and employees throughout this process, and we hope to seek assurances from them on this front over the coming days,” he added.
