Glanbia CFO Siobhán Talbot is to replace the Irish food group’s chief executive, John Moloney, after he announced his intention to retire a year early.

Moloney is to retire after 12 years at the helm, Glanbia said today (21 May), a year earlier than originally planned. Talbot, CFO since 2009, will become managing director designate from 1 June as part of a transition process.

Talbot has been with the group for over a decade and has held roles including group operating executive, deputy finance director and then group finance director. A replacement for her role will be appointed “in due course”, Glanbia said.

Moloney will step down by the end of the year. Of his departure, he said: “I feel that after 12 years at the helm and over 25 years with the group it is the right time for all concerned to pass the leadership of Glanbia to someone new. I am delighted that Siobhán Talbot has been appointed as my successor. She brings a drive, energy, deep knowledge and commitment to her role that will move the hroup to the next phase of growth and development.”
