Frito-Lay India, the Indian snacks division of US giant PepsiCo, is set to launch several Quaker breakfast cereal brands onto the Indian market by the end of the year.

Quaker brands such as Quaker Oats, Life and Cap’n Crunch, will compete against Corn Flakes, Frosties and Froot Loops from multinational Kellogg Co and local cereal brands for a slice of the Indian market, reported the Financial Times.

One problem the company may face is a preference in India for a cooked breakfast such as toast and an omelette. But in more urban areas, where people may not have much time to spend on breakfast, the cereal market is growing.

Frito-Lay, which has three plants in India, has adjusted the taste of some of its snack products to suit the Indian palate, and as such has seen healthy sales growth, the newspaper reported.
