Fieldfresh Foods, the Indian venture between Bharti Enterprises and Del Monte Pacific, has outlined plans for an aggressive expansion drive.

“With the Del Monte range of processed food and beverages, we want to become a leading player in India and be one of the top ten food and beverage companies in India by 2014,” Yogesh Bellani, business head, Del Monte Foods Business, FieldFresh Foods, told just-food.

The venture, which is already spending INR1bn on a production facility in Tamil Nadu, is also looking to new products and investment in distribution to build the business.

“This year we are looking to launch many new products, strengthen our distribution network and build brand Del Monte. Some of the most advanced machinery and processes yet known in India will be used to create innovative products. We will produce internationally-benchmarked, high quality food and beverage products, catering to the Indian taste. We will also have the capability to create customised culinary products for our horeca and institutional customers,” Bellani said.

Among the planned new products are mustard sauce, mayonnaise, a rage of pasta sauces and a range of products aimed at the horeca bakery and ice cream segments.
