The Hungarian competition authority GVH has fined Hungarian retail chain Tesco Global, a subsidiary of UK retailer Tesco, 5m forints (US$22,200) for what GVH said was a misleading promotional campaign.

The competition office ruled that during a promotional campaign in May 2002, Tesco Global misled consumers by having too small a quantity of one of the promotional goods in stock. The stocks of the promotional product were exhausted on the second day of the campaign, reported the Hungarian News Digest.
