Hochwald Foods, the German dairy and meats group, has made changes to its management structure, which includes appointing head of operations Karl Eismann to the position of chief operating officer.
The group has changed its managment board, which Eismann will lead. He will also head up product development, central quality management and milk management.
The moves follow the departure of managing director Dr Karl-Heinz Engel, which was announced last month.
Hochwald said the changes would see the responsibility for its commercial business unit and its production and technology department shared. CFO Detlef Latka, who had been on Hochwald's previous management board, alongside Engel – had had responsibility for the commercial business unit. Eismann was already in charge of the production and technology unit as part of Hochwald's management team.
The group's commercial business unit will still be headed up by Latka, who will set on the new board with Eismann. Hochwald said its management board is set to be expanded "in the medium term" to include a third person.
Overall, Hochwald said the new structure took into account "the rapid growth it has experienced over the last few years". In 2010, it generated turnover of EUR1.16bn (US$1.25bn). Last year, it posted turnover of EUR1.59bn.
