German grocery retailer Rewe plans to begin trialling online shopping from next year.

The retailer will trial two models, a spokesperson told just-food today (21 September), with three Rewe outlets to trial a click-and-collect format called Rewe Express Drive.

Customers will be able to order their goods online and collect them at the store at a certain time. The retailer has been offering this service in an outlet in Cologne since the beginning of 2010.

Rewe will also tentatively offer a delivery service in selected metropolitan areas. Customers will be able to order products online, which will be delivered directly to their door.
