German supermarket giant Metro has opened a warehouse supermarket in north China’s Tianjin Municipality.
The supermarket, which covers 34,000 sq m, will be Metro’s 17th supermarket in China. Metro also has four regional headquarters in Shanghai, Guangzou, Wuhan and Beijing.
Metro has also indicated that if the Chinese market continues to expand following entry into the WTO, the retailer may consider setting up a further 40 supermarkets in China over the next five years, reported Xinhua News Agency.
