FrieslandCampina is to sell two of its German dairy brands, Mark Brandenburg and Milchreiter, to local firm Odenwald Früchte for an undisclosed sum.
Following the sale, FrieslandCampina’s German division will focus on its “main” brands, which include Landliebe, Optiwell and Tuffi.
The sale to Odenwald Früchte’s dairy subsidiary, ODW Frischprodukte, has been approved by Germany’s Federal Cartel Office. Terms of the deal, however, were not disclosed. Both companies will continue to work together on production.
The sale comes after FrieslandCampina last week booked a high double-digit increase in first-half earnings, boosted by higher sales and an improved product mix.
In 2010, ODW Frischprodukte acquired the Elsterwerda yoghurt and dessert production facility plant from FrieslandCampina, as well as some of the group’s production equipment.
The site was previously slate to close as part of FrieslandCampina’s restructuring plans after the merger of Friesland Foods and Campina in 2008.
