Univeg has announced the opening of a operations centre in France as part of plans to develop its business in the country.
The fresh produce firm said on Thursday (19 May) the centre, which is based in Paris’s Rungis market, covers 7,000 square metres and includes a warehouse area, a ripening store and a packaging station.
Univeg said it will be able to provide storage, ripening, packaging and distribution of fresh produce under “optimum conditions” and “at a single location”.
Francis Kint, CEO of Univeg’s fruit and vegetables arm, said the EUR12m (US$16.8m) investment shows that the company is “willing to grow” in the country.
Kint said the project would also help in “providing the means for the company to meet its ambitious growth targets”.
