Lunchbox-friendly 80g plastic cups of tuna and salmon have been unveiled by Thai Union at SIAL this week. The products have an 18-month shelf life and are secured with an easy peel plastic film lid.
“It delivers 80g of fish, since there is no liquid to drain away,” sales and marketing manager Pomchai Tatiyachaitaweeksuk told just-food at the Paris food show.
The product is already on sale in Wal-Mart under Thai Union’s Chicken of the Sea brand. It has already been ordered by customers in Australia, Japan and Israel for selling in 2007, ahead of any SIAL business that Thai Union may write.
“We are also ready to write a contract with a major European airline very soon,” Tatiyachaitaweeksuk added. “We are offering buyers Alaskan pink salmon, albacore and skipjack tuna, with a range of four sauce options at SIAL.”
