French poultry and processed meat group LDC has bought sandwich maker Entracte from catering company Groupe Valentin Traiteur.
Entracte, France’s fourth-largest sandwich maker, produces around 27m sandwiches each year with an estimated turnover of around EUR26m (US$33.7m).
“Entracte is an attractive proposition with a strong presence in the retail sector,” a spokesperson for LDC told just-food today (21 January).
Approximately 85% of Entracte’s sales come from retail customers.
The company owns a number of well-known brands, including Relais H and Wagon Lits, and operates one Paris-based manufacturing facility.
LDC’s spokesperson said the integration of Entracte’s activities will “significantly strengthen” its position in the pre-made sandwich sector.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed and the spokesperson refused to be drawn on the purchase price.
