Entremont Alliance has invested EUR6.3m (US$9.92m) in new production lines at its plant in Quimper, increasing annual capacity for Emmenthal and cheddar cheeses to 30,000 tonnes.

Entermont Alliance was set up following the merger of the milk products activities of Europe’s leading hard cheese maker Entremont Fromager and Brittany-based cooperative Unicopa.

The group has just signed a 10-year contract with German company Hochland  for the supply of cheddar to be used in its production of pizzas and flammekueches.

A further EUR2.4m is being invested in a workshop for the demineralisation of sweet cheese whey, the company revealed.
