One of France’s leading pork processing groups, co-operative Cooperl Arc Atlantic, has unveiled a sizeable investment programme to modernise some of its 15 plants, most of which are located in western France.
A company official confirmed to just-food on Friday (11 June) that the co-op, which merged with counterpart Arca in 2008, is planning to invest EUR30m annually, over the next three years.

“We are undertaking a significant upgrade of facilities across our activities which span pig slaughtering, pork processing and added-value products in the cooked meats segment,” the official said.
Initially, four plants will be the focus of attention, including an abattoir and one of the units operated by Brittany-based charcuterie arm specialist, Brocéliande, which Cooperl acquired last year.
Formerly owned by Unicopa, Brocéliande is spearheading Cooperl’s activities in cooked meats – with annual output increasing to 70,000 tonnes – allowing it to become one of the leading producers of own label on the French market, generating a EUR300m turnover.
