Groupe Casino, the France-based food retailer, is not looking to enter the Algerian market, just-food understands.

Reports claimed yesterday (28 May) that Casino, which has extensive operations in the emerging markets of Asia and Latin America, was planning to break into Algeria.

However, it emerged today that the company had no plans to open up shop in the market.

Casino, however, declined to comment when contacted by just-food.

The retailer has a set of burgeoning businesses in Asia and Latin America and last month posted robust sales figures for the region.
