Former PepsiCo executive Charles Bouaziz has quit his post as CEO of French retail chain Monoprix after only four months in the job “for personal reasons”.

In a statement Monoprix, which is jointly-owned by Casino and Galeries Lafayette, said Bouaziz, 47, “had expressed a wish to quit the company for personal reasons” and did not elaborate further.

Bouaziz is replaced by Stéphane Maquaire, 36, who has been Monoprix’s director of finance and development since December 2008.

Maquaire’s official title is executive vice-president and he will report to Galeries Lafayette chairman Philippe Houzé who also heads Monoprix.

Maquaire also becomes a member of Galeries Lafayette’s execuitve committee.
