Trials are nearly completed for a soluble label indicating whether a product has been exposed to unsuitable conditions or been tampered with, a European Union (EU) online marketplace has claimed.

It said a British electronics manufacturer, as yet unnamed, would decide to market the system by the end of the year, to be sold commercially in 2005’s first quarter.
The labels double as a non-refixable security seal and change form in unsuitable conditions, for instance where humidity or moisture levels are too high. The labels break down in cold or hot water between 10°C to 40°C, and customers can adjust their resistance, said Internet service PIRANET.
