Mars Inc is set to start the production of Twix chocolate in Egypt to serve the local market and other countries in the Middle East and Africa.

The company is spending US$83m on the project at its plant in 6th of October City, a satellite city west of Cairo.

The investment “will position Egypt as a key regional export hub for Mars”, it said. Over 70% of Mars’ production in Egypt will be exported to the region.

Mars had not responded to requests for further comment at the time of writing.
