Dr Oetker, the Germany-based food group, has announced yet another acquisition with a deal for the UK’s Cake Craft World.
Based in the south-eastern town of Sevenoaks in the county of Kent, Cake Craft World is an online business producing speciality cake decorations, along with associated equipment, tools, books and packaging.
Its founder and managing director Linda Glaysher said: “We’re a business that’s been passionate about baking for over 30 years. The support being offered by Dr Oetker will enable us to quickly develop and grow. We will become even better at developing baking trends, sourcing and supplying the latest products and brands, and showcasing the latest techniques – producing even more premium content for our loyal base of bakers.”
Financial details were not provided in a statement from Dr Oetker announcing the deal, which adds to a host of other M&A transactions conducted by the German firm this year and last, particularly in ingredients.
Earlier in September, it bought Panovia Prod, a Romanian producer of pastry products, and in July snapped up baking decoration firm Mavalério in Brazil.
Last year, it purchased US-based cake decorating and baking brand Wilton, Egyptian bakery business Tag El Melouk and took a minority stake in German cake maker InterNestor. A deal for the desserts and bakery business of Unilever’s Alsa unit in France was cleared by competition authorities at the start of this year.
