Danisco, Scandinavia’s largest food ingredients producer, has been forced to pay US$15.3m to Danish rival Novozymes to settle a patent dispute.
The row centred on Danisco’s Spezyme Ethyl, an enzyme used in ethanol production, and means the company will pay Novozymes infringement damages of $8.2m.
Danisco’s product was withdrawn from circulation last year after a US court ruled it infringed Novozymes’ patent.
