Müller has promoted Werner Stegmüller to global chief executive of the Germany-based dairy giant from the chief operating officer role he took on in June last year.

Previous CEO Uwe Sommer has reportedly left the firm after joining Müller early in 2017 from Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Sprungli, where he served as the head of international sales and marketing.

A Müller spokesperson confirmed Werner joined the firm in June 2017 as COO and was formally promoted to the CEO role in April.

Former Lindt executive Sommer had succeeded Ronald Kers, who became CEO in 2015 after himself being promoted from managing director of Müller’s businesses in the UK and Ireland. Kers joined the firm in 2012.

Meanwhile, yesterday (17 May), UK manufacturer 2 Sisters Food Group announced that Kers has now been appointed as its CEO effective from 1 June.

Müller owner Theo Müller had reportedly also considered his daughter Jutta Johanna for the CEO position. She owns 2% of the shares in the business.
