ConAgra Foods has confirmed plans to close a production facility in St Louis County as part of its drive to improve operational efficiency.
A spokesperson for the company told just-food the closure will impact approximately 69 employees at the site, which processes sunflower seeds under the David brand.

“The production is being moved to a facility in Waterloo, Iowa, and we are doing it to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of our operations,” the spokesperson explained.
ConAgra Foods is in the process of dividing its business into two divisions. The separation, expected to be complete by the autumn of this year, will see the creation of a largely branded business, Conagra Brands, and a frozen potato products supplier, Lamb Weston.
In its last full year, to the end of May, ConAgra saw its branded consumer food sales decline 4.5% in the year, dropping to $7.22bn. The company has, however, focused on “productivity savings”, which contributed to increased operating profit for the year.
