UK firm The Coconut Collaborative has launched a dairy free coconut-milk and almond-milk based yoghurt, in what it claims is the "world's first".
The UK launch aims to "capitalise on the growing demand for healthy and free-from foods".
The Coconut Collaborative Almond Yogurt is a blend of 50% coconut milk, 25% almond milk and 25% coconut water.
Co-founder James Averdieck said: "We launched this new variant as we noticed a growing appetite for almond milk with free-from and health-conscious consumers. Not only is this new variant dairy-free but it also harnesses the dual nutritional benefits of both coconut and almond milk, whilst delivering exceptionally on taste and texture. The popularity of our Snowconut range has blown us away since we launched and this is a significant new listing to have secured."
The products are free from dairy, soya and gluten, plus they have no refined sugar and are suitable for vegans. The range now features five variants. The range also includes natural, blueberry and raspberry flavours, as well as a mango and passionfruit line.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed to just-food there are plans for a nationwide roll-out by February beyond its initial Waitrose and independent store launch this week.
