Nestle today (24 May) announced the opening of a seasoning production line in Dongguan, China as part of broader expansion plans in the area.
The move marks the completion of the first phase of a CHF44m (US$50m) expansion project, which is set to increase the factory’s production by 300%.
The new production line aims to increase the factory’s annual production capacity of Maggi liquid seasoning products by 1,700 tonnes.
Roland Decorvert, chairman and CEO of Nestle’s operations in the greater China region, said: “Maggi seasoning has been very popular for both professional and household cooking. It provides a preferred solution for delicious, nutritious and convenient food. This much-needed expansion project will enable us to meet the increasing market demand for this product.”
The company said construction has commenced on the second phase of the project, which will also include workshop space.
