The Chinese Agriculture Ministry has concluded that Heinz baby cereals do not contain illegal genetically modified ingredients. The Agriculture Ministry tested Heinz baby food products after Greenpeace said tests on Heinz Baby Rice Cereal detected the presence of undeclared GM rice.
China is yet to approve GM rice for human consumption.
A ministry spokesman, Fang Xiangdong, said tests on 43 varieties of Heinz cereals sold in China and their ingredients found no GM materials, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
Heinz had previously denied that its baby foods contained illegal GM ingredients, citing independent lab tests, which returned negative results.
