The owners of a restaurant in China which serves
dishes prepared with breast milk have received a reminder from the government that such a practice is illegal.
The restaurant in the city of Changsha in Central China’s Hunan
Province introduced its unusual menu early in January and included such
dishes as abalone or fish heads cooked with breast milk.
Reports in
local media sparked an uproar from lawmakers who called such practices
unethical.
The Health Ministry had made it clear that breast milk
cannot be sold as merchandise or traded for profit. The restaurant now
faces closure or legal action.
