The Vancouver coastal health authorities have issued a hepatitis A warning in connection with three Capers grocery stores. Shoppers are being urged to get an emergency injection against the virus.

Consumers who bought Capers’ brand peanut sauce, barbecue sauce or salad dressing are urged to throw them away. Additionally, anyone who ate salads, wraps, coleslaw, bocconcini or vegetarian panini at any Capers deli 13-16 March are being urged to get the free hepatitis vaccination.
The scare has come out after a food handler at Capers was infected with hepatitis A. No illnesses have thus far been reported, but symptoms can take up to 50 days to show. They include vomiting, fever, fatigue, nausea, stomach pain and jaundice.
