Brazilian food group Marfrig has agreed to buy local pork processor Carroll’s Food do Brasil in a deal worth BRL42.3m (US$24.9m).

Marfrig, one of the Brazil’s top beef exporters, said the acquisition would help the company diversify its business throughout Brazil.

Carroll’s, a mid-sized pork processor, has a feed plant in Mato Gross state and two ranches located in the cities of Petrovina and Diamantino.
