Alete, the private-equity backed baby food business, is targeting international growth with a particular focus on eastern Europe, Russia and China.
A spokesperson for the company, which was acquired by German investment group BWK from Nestle last year, said the group's medium term focus is "very much" on trying to grow outside its core German and Austrian markets. "Under the ownership of Nestle, Alete was limited to the German and Austrian markets. This has changed, we are free to enter any market we wish to be active in," the spokesperson said
The company is focusing on eastern Europe, Russia and China "over the next few years" due to the growth potential on offer, the spokesperson continued. "The sales potential for baby food made in Germany is very good in those markets. When it comes to baby food, German productions standards are among the toughest in the world. We believe that customers will appreciate this."
The company is in the process of signing a number of local distribution partners, the spokesperson added. The group declined to comment on its sales targets.
