Quorn Foods has added to its range of products available in Australia through its tie-up with J.R. Simplot’s local subsidiary.
The companies are rolling out meat-free, soy-free pies and schnitzels as Quorn looks to continue building its business in a key overseas market.
The lines include Mince & Potato Pies, Chicken-Style & Leek Pies and Tomato & Cheese Schnitzels. The range is free from artificial colours and preservatives.
Suzanne Harman, chief marketing officer at Simplot Australia, said the products target “meat-reducing” and vegetarian consumers are looking for meal options they cannot replicate at home.
The new Quorn range is available at Coles supermarkets from July 2014. The pies have an RRP of A$6.20 (US$5.75) and the schnitzels an RRP of A$5.99.
In an interview with just-food in January, Quorn Foods CEO Kevin Brennan said the UK group’s business in Australia was growing at “20-30%”. He said: “We’ve set the budget this year at 20% and we’ll be disappointed if we hit only 20%. We’re going really well in Australia and the category has got plenty of headroom to grow.”
