Olam International is opening a A$60m (US$62.8m) almond hulling and processing plans in Australia.
Announcing the plan, Olam said the 12,000 square metre plant in Carwarp in Victoria is the “largest facility of its kind” in the southern hemisphere. The plant will have a capacity of 14 tonnes of almonds per hour, employing 19 full-time workers and 54 casual workers.
Olam MD and CEO Sunny Verghese suggested the investment demonstrated Olam’s commitment to its operations in Australia.
