A range of user guides designed to help members of the food industry implement the new joint Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code was issued this week by the Australia New Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA).
Peter Liehne, general manager of standards, commented: “These 12 plain English guides to the new Food Standards Code cover a range of issues including percentage labelling, ingredient labelling, warning and advisory statements, legibility, date marking and several food product standards.”
.
A nutrition labelling pack will also be released next month to complement the guides. They include an Internet-based nutrition panel calculator.
Food standards ministers in Australia and New Zealand agreed upon the new code last December.
ANZFA also announced this week that a user guide detailing GM food labelling is available.
The user guides are available in hard copy through ANZFA’s publishers Anstat and on ANZFA’s website. To visit the website, click here.
