AUSTRALIA: New Aldi outlet despite staunch opposition
Discount giant Aldi has welcomed news that councils in a west Sydney district has approved its bid to open an outlet in the area. The German giant faced staunch opposition, as the city council cited poor exterior design, noisy late night delivery activity, oversupply of supermarkets and traffic problems caused by increased parking as adequate reason to ensure that the application does not go ahead.

Officials at Campden Council voted to allow the store to go ahead however, as long as it complied with council rules.
