Australian retailer Woolworths Ltd has announced the appointment of Penny Winn to the newly-created role of multi-channel director.

Winn joins Woolworths from department-store chain Myer and the move marks her second stint at Australia’s largest food retailer. The company said she would “consolidate Woolworths’ fastgrowing multi-channel strategies” and “help drive our online offers across all trading divisions”. She will also be responsible for customer engagement and analytics.

“Penny is a talented and highly experienced retailer, who returns to Woolworths with a wealth of experience and insight across a range of critical areas such as digital, online and fulfilment,” deputy CEO Grant O’Brien said today (9 September).

“Combined with her strong change management and strategic planning skills, Penny will lead the group’s fast-growing multi-channel offer and customer engagement strategy.”

Winn joined Woolworths in 1987 from local retailer Grace Bros. She spent 19 years at Woolworths, including a role leading the reorganisation of the retailer’s supply chain. In 2006, Winn joined Asda as director of strategy and change, before being hired to Myers as executive general manager for merchandise and logistics in 2008.
