Croatia’s Atlantic Grupa will become the first official distributor of Mars products in the European country from February in a move expected to generate an additional HRK100m (US$16.1m) in revenue this year.

Under the contract, the Croatian food company will distribute Mars chocolate, Mars food products and Mars pet care, taking in brands such as Twix, Bounty, Snickers, M&Ms and Uncle Ben’s, according to a statement issued late yesterday (11 January).

Atlantic Grupa has been offering the Wrigley assortment since 1991, even before Mars took over the chewing gum maker in 2008. The agreement with Mars will boost Atlantic Grupa’s range of third-party brands further after the Croatian firm signed a distribution deal with consumer goods giant Unilever in 2015.

Darja Šušteršic, market director for Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzergovina at Mars, said after the signing of the contract: “We have excellent experience and significant expectations from the partnership with Atlantic Grupa in the distribution of Mars products in Croatia. Through the long -time distribution of Wrigley assortment we are convinced that we have a partner from whom we can expect continuing extraordinary cooperation.”

The Croatian firm said the new contract with Mars was a recognition of Atlantic Grupa “as a stable, valuable and ambitious partner”.

“We are exceptionally proud to announce the conclusion of the new distribution contract,” said Slaven Romac, general manager of Atlantic Grupa’s strategic distribution unit in Croatia. “This confirms that we were serious about our plans for further expansion and strengthening of Atlantic’s distribution operations, as well as our dedication to very high distribution goals.”
