Japanese soy sauce maker Kikkoman Corp is reportedly planning to invest around ¥1.06bn (US$10.3m) in a new plant in Thailand to make processed food products under the Del Monte brand.

The Japanese company plans to set up a joint venture with two local companies, Samroiyod Corp and River Kwai International Foods, in December to sell processed fruits and vegetables to China and Southeast Asia, reported the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

In 1990 Kikkoman acquired the rights to sell processed food under the Del Monte brand in Oceania and Asia, excluding the Philippines.
