Around 50 farmers are reported to have blocked access to French food and dairy company Danone’s milk processing plant in Neufchatel-en-Bray in northern France.
The farmers, who are members of the French farmers’ unions Confederation Paysanne and Coordination Rurale, are protesting against the decrease in fourth-quarter milk purchase prices by €0.02 (US$0.02) compared to the third quarter of 2002.
The protestors say they will continue the blockade until Danone’s management agrees to negotiate over the milk purchase price, reported the French News Digest.
