Italy-based sweet baked goods manufacturer Bauli is to re-purpose a facility for its gluten-free products subsidiary Alpipan.
Bauli, which makes cakes and Italian specialities such as pandoro and pannetone, said work has already started to develop the plant at Altopascio in the Lucca area of Tuscany.
It is redeveloping an industrial building that in the past has housed other bakery companies. Once the property is revamped, new production lines will be installed.
Alpipan makes bread and sweet baked snacks. It has just launched a new range of gluten-free products under the Bauli and Doria brands. The company is keen to increase its production capacity via the new facility which is near its existing Altopascio site.
Pierluigi Rumbo, Alpipan’s CEO, said: “The Lucca area represents for us a strategic place in which to further develop our company. This area has a great manufacturing and bread-making tradition and this ensures that there is a wide availability of skilled labour.”
Alpipan said some 21 new jobs will be created once the new facility is up and running.
