Nestle-owned Gerber launches baby nutrition subscription boxes
Gerber, the US-based infant-formula owned by Nestlé, has introduced subscription boxes.
Described as being “filled with organic, nutritious products curated for baby’s developmental stage, delivered straight to your doorstep,” the boxes start at US$69.99 per month.
Gerber said its subscription boxes contain organic products “carefully curated” for a baby’s developmental stage and include educational and nutritional content, such as guided menus, hunger and fullness cues, recipes, and ingredient source content.
Mohini Joshi, the company’s vice president of marketing, said: “Our subscription boxes give parents an option that makes meal planning and prep more manageable for families with busy schedules. This new option is a continuation of our commitment to provide parents with premium nutrition for their little ones with the added value of feeding tips and menu ideas for baby’s age or stage.”

Good Hemp adds oats to hemp-based milk range
Good Hemp, the UK food and drinks brand, has expanded its plant-based milk range with the addition of oats.
Good Hemp Oat + Hemp M*lk “is the brand’s first non-dairy milk to include a major ingredient other than hemp” and is rolling out in Waitrose this week followed in January with a listing in Morrisons.
Henry Braham and Glynis Murray are behind the Good Hemp brand, marketed under the company Braham and Murray, which is now majority-owned by private-equity firm Inverleith following an additional stake sale in 2018.
The oat milk is the sixth “non-dairy ambient milk product” to be launched in the UK, joining Seed Milk, Barista Seed Milk, CBD Seed Milk, CBD Barista Seed Milk and CBD Chocolate Seed Milk.
Dave Shaw, Good Hemp’s managing director, said: “Our latest plant-milk sees two sustainable champions combine to brilliant effect, the sweet creaminess of oats and the light nuttiness of hemp. Oats work perfectly with hemp from a flavour perspective, so we see this as a great opportunity to bring the health and environmental benefits of hemp to the widest possible audience.”
Good Hemp Oat + Hemp M*lk carries a recommended retail price of GBP1.85 (US$2.46).
Mondelez extends BelVita range in Australia
US food giant Mondelez International has launched a new range of products in Australia under its BelVita breakfast biscuits brand.
The new BelVita range has extended into soft bakes with three new flavours – Apple & Cinnamon, Dark Chocolate Chip and Raspberry & Vanilla Bean. The products are gluten-free, nut-free and have less than 5g of sugar per serve.
The brand has also moved into Baked Bars and Coconut Bites.
Three baked bar variants come in a ‘muesli bar’ format while two coconut bite flavours come in a resealable pouch.
Flavours range from Fig & Pear, Raspberry & Vanilla to Dark Chocolate with combinations of seeds and grains, fruit pieces, chocolate and coconut.
Mondelez says: “The baked bars are soft, with a textured eat, while the bites are the perfect sized chewy snack with layers of flavour.”
The Australian-made BelVita range is available from supermarket chain Coles.
Aunt Millie’s unveils Live bread sub-brand
US baker Aunt Millie’s has launched a better-for-you sub-brand in the shape of Live bread.
Live Carb Smart and Live Organic Breads are the first products to be launched as part of the range.
Live Carb Smart has “one net carb per slice” while Live Organic is described as a “farm-to-table organic product”.
J. Bohn Popp, executive vice president of brand strategy at Aunt Millie’s Bakeries, said: “Our new Live breads are breads you can feel good about. Inside and out, it is better tasting and better for you. That is extremely important to the Aunt Millie’s family.”
Live Carb Smart is keto-friendly, vegan and do not contain corn syrup. The product line includes White, Wheat and 5-Seed bread varieties.
The Live Organic loaf is certified USDA Organic. The product line includes Seedful, 100% Whole Wheat, Ancient Grains and White loaves.
Founded in 1901, Aunt Millie’s Bakeries’ products are distributed throughout the US with primary distribution in the Midwest.
Higgidy rolls out vegan quiche, ‘pork’ pies
Higgidy is launching a range of vegan quiches and a meat-free pork pie, both firsts in the respective categories for the UK-based chilled foods manufacturer.
The duo of quiches – Spinach and Roasted Tomato and Porcini Mushroom & Spinach – are the first vegan quiches available in the UK, the company claims, made without eggs, cream or milk.
The Mini No-Pork Pies are made with red pepper, “SunBlush” tomato, carrots and green lentils, encased in vegan crust pastry.
Higgidy’s new plant-based products will be available at Waitrose from 30 December followed by a listing in Sainsbury’s on 3 January. Both products are priced from GBP2.50 (US$3.33) to GBP4.25.
The company’s present vegan offering consists of pies and ‘sausage’ rolls, while it also produces plant-based ready-meals and fish and meat-based quiches.
UK’s Jude’s moves into custard category
UK-based Jude’s, a family-run ice cream and dessert toppings maker, has branched out into custards.
It has launched two custard flavours – Madagascan Vanilla and Belgian Chocolate – which will be sold in Sainsbury’s stores nationwide.
Chow Mezger, managing director of of Jude’s said: “We saw a gap in the market for a premium ambient custard and so we’ve made ours using the best available ingredients to be as creamy and delicious as possible. Made with real bourbon vanilla and Belgian chocolate, these custards are designed to be served hot or cold and either on their own or with your favourite winter puddings.”
The custards have a RRP of GBP2.00 (US$2.65).
