Ray Simpson, North Otago branch chairman of Dairy Farmers of New Zealand (DFNZ), has urged that dairy farmers who ignore stock droving by-laws be prosecuted.
A small group of farmers are leaving roads splattered with dung, he said, and giving law-abiding farmers a bad name.
Simpson’s comments followed a meeting held last week between Federated Farmers representatives and Waitaki District Council to discuss issues associated with stock movement.
