US group Post Holdings has announced it is to close its facility in Clinton, Massachusetts.
Some 180 workers are affected by the decision.
The breakfast cereal, sports nutrition and eggs manufacturer said the planned closure of the facility reflects Post’s “continuous improvement initiative to optimise its cereal production network and manage costs in the ready-to-eat cereal category”.
The facility, which was acquired with the acquisition of Weetabix in 2017, employs approximately 180 employees and is expected to close by August 2019.
Post said it will engage in discussions with the union representing the hourly employees at the facility to determine the impact to terms and conditions of employment for the unionised workers.
Earlier this month, Post announced it is to spend US$85m to build an eggs and pre-cooked meat facility for its Michael Foods unit in Norwalk, Iowa.
