US dessert specialist Raymundos Food Group has acquired milk and yogurt business Desi Natural Dahi for an undisclosed sum.
Desi, based in Bethpage, New York, develops and markets branded Indian yogurts (dahi) and cheese (paneer), which is predominantly sold through ethnic retailers. Raymundos, a portfolio company of AUA Private Equity, acquired Desi from Derle Farms.
Illinois-based Raymundos and its private-equity owner said the deal will add value through broadening its product portfolio and extending its customer base via additional distribution channels.
Andy Unanue, New York-based AUA Private Equity’s managing partner, said: “We are extremely pleased to have completed the acquisition of Desi, allowing Raymundos to expand its product offering, develop additional customer channels, and achieve economies of scale that will deliver alpha to our partners.”
Steven Flyer, lead partner on the Desi transaction, added: “The Desi acquisition is strategic for Raymundos, as our company now owns two leading ethnic-oriented refrigerated brands targeting two of the fastest growing populations in the US (Hispanic and Indian). The transaction also helps advance the Raymundos platform further into the better-for-you category.”
Raymundos’ existing product range includes creme parfait, caramel flan and rice pudding.
