A Chinese food maker has been told by the Japanese government to improve the quality of its operations, after high amounts of pesticide residue were detected in its frozen spinach products.
The move represents the first intervention of the Japanese government in the operation of a foreign company with reference to the Japanese Agricultural Standards Law.
Taian Taishan Asia Food Co was urged to stop putting labels stating that its products are “pesticide-free” when they may actually contain pesticide.
