Perfetti Van Melle has launched a range of chewy sweets under its Chupa Chups brand in the UK.

After what the confectioner called a "successful launch" in the US, Airheads, a line of chewy, fruit-flavoured candies, will hit UK shelves this month. The bite-sized candies come packaged in an aluminium foil packet.

Each 50g packet includes five flavours; lemon, blueberry, strawberry, apple and orange.

A spokesperson said: "Following a significant 74% sales uplift since 2010, the [Chupa Chups] brand is in an excellent position to bring a new offering to the market."
