Spice group McCormick & Co. has reported higher half-year profits and revenue despite another quarter of falling sales in the Americas.

The Schwartz owner booked an 8.2% increase in net income to US$167m for the six months to the end of May. Operating income was also up 8.2% at $246.3m.

Net sales grew 5% to $2.03bn with McCormick’s consumer and B2B business enjoying higher revenues innternationally.

Consumer sales in the Americas was down after a 5% drop in the second quarter followed a 1% fall in the first three months of the financial year.

In the Americas, McCormick said it would step up innovation and increase marketing support to try to boost sales.

Sales were up in McCormick’s EMEA and Asia Pacific markets. However, volumes fell in the EMEA region in the second quarter.
