Nestle has announced the appointment of Francois-Xavier Roger to the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Roger, CFO of Japanese pharma group Takeda Pharmaceutical, will take the position on 1 July. He replaces Wan Ling Martello who was moved to head Nestle's operations in Asia, Oceania and Africa in May.

Roger has also held positions with Danone – where he was CFO for its Asian business and vice president for corporate finance, treasury and tax.

Nestle CEO Paul Bulcke said: "I am confident that François-Xavier Roger will blend well into the Nestlé culture and that his vast experience in finance and control, merger and acquisitions, as well as relations with regulators and investors will make him ideally suited to assume this crucial role in our group. His extensive insight, knowledge and experience in different geographies and industries, in particular in food, nutrition and pharma, will allow him to quickly contribute to driving the performance of the Nestlé group as the recognised leader in nutrition, health and wellness."

Nestle also announced the appointment of Magdi Batato, the head of its business in Pakistan, to the position of executive vice president in charge of operations. Batato succeeds Jose Lopez who is retiring after 36 years with the group.
