US snack maker Diamond Foods has decided to take its Kettle brand into its domestic popcorn sector.
Diamond has developed a range of five flavours, which will hit US shelves during the summer at a suggested retail price of US$3.69 a bag.
“We’ve been hard at work applying all we’ve learned making our signature flavours to really make popcorn pop,” said Carolyn Ottenheimer, the chief flavour architect for the Kettle brand. “Popcorn kernels have so many delicious nooks and crannies for flavour to hide in. We had a lot of fun working with it and think the result is pretty fantastic.”
Diamond chose to emphasise the “natural, non-GMO ingredients” in the popcorn, adding the lines did not include trans fats, MSG or preservatives. Each cup of popcorn is 50-53 calories, it added.
