New Zealand’s A2 Milk Co. has received the green light from the Chinese authorities to start shipping its A2 Platinum brand infant formula back into the country.

The firm announced it had been added to the list of approved imported brands by the China General Administration for Quality Inspection and Quarantine.

In May, China banned infant formula and other dairy products made by firms not on Beijing’s list of registered overseas dairy manufacturers.

A2 Milk applied for registration in association with Synlait Milk, its processing partner for the Platinum brand.

Geoffrey Babidge, A2’s managing director, said: “Registration will provide an important confidence boost for our distribution partner China State Farm and its sub-distributors in our target markets in China. The market development programme paused while the registration process was progressing and can now be reactivated together with new communication initiatives.”
